A Birthday to Remember

Oh my gosh! I have all the feels! Tomorrow is my little girls birthday. (ahem) She's 31 but she's my baby!  So as usual, I'm looking through photos of her past birthdays, and getting a little more sentimental with each one.  Then I came to this one. Yes, this one was special. Of course, all of her birthdays were special but this one tugged at my heart, and it is about so much more than her birthday.  This is about family, and friends who are as close as family.

The year would have been 1990, and Brittany was about to turn 3. I was struggling financially, and wasn't going to be able to give her a birthday party.  You know those friends who just know when you need a lift? That was Kim. Heck, I remember when I was about to tell her I was pregnant. She blurted it out before I even had a chance. Seriously, how did she know?

That weekend, we were invited to Donna's (Kim's sister) for a barbecue. A great time, for sure! Only there were other plans. You see, Kim and her whole family are like family to me, and when they heard that I couldn't have a birthday party for Britt, they took it upon themselves to change that. There was a surprise birthday party waiting when we arrived!! They threw a party for my baby girl!  Oh, be still my heart!  That's your tribe, loves, that's your tribe. Hold them close, and don't let them go.

All these kids have kids of their own now, well, except mine. :-) Time passes so quickly. Remember, no act of kindness is too big or too small. Whatever you do, be kind. Smile! Compliment someone! Throw a party and make them a birthday cake decorated with those perfect, little candy letters. You just might be the reason someone smiles that day.  Oh, and if you pray, Don, the man in this picture, fell this week and had surgery. If you would say a little prayer for him, that would be awesome. :-)

Hugs!
